Developing and Mounting the Program

  Site Visits:

We have secured the funding for five or six site visits. Except for the Peconic Landing training, none have been scheduled yet. We hope to visit during the program and afterwards while it is being evaluated. If you are interested in having us visit your site, and can provide Chuck Nicholas with lodging, let us know as soon as possible. We hope to have all site visit arrangements concluded as soon as possible.

Evaluating the Program

We are planning an elaborate evaluation process, one that is designed to assess the quality and popularity of the program, and, just as importantly, the extent to which its new narrative of aging has impacted its participants. Advisory Committee Member, Ruth Ray, will be helping with the design of the questionnaire, and, of course, we will be looking to our partners for assistance and suggestions as well.

Most of the work on this phase of the program will not begin until the program is actually launched, but we advise everyone to be thinking of it now. How we conduct this phase will have a great deal to do with our being able to continue the grant for an additional two years, although there will have to be a hiatus in 2006-2007 while the NEH evaluates our performance.
