Welcome to the Elderquest home page headquarters for The New Cinema and Literature of Age:  Part One & Part Two.
Part One:   The Elderquest in Today’s Movies and Novels: A New Narrative for the New Old Age

This was the first program to be offered simultaneously at several Lifelong Learning Institutes (LLIs) around the country. It was partially funded by The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and ran in the spring of 2006. For the syllabus and course description of this outstanding program click on Syllabi and Course Descriptions.

For a complete list of the participating LLIs click on Partners.

For the complete study guide simply click on Study Guide (the link)

If you are interested in offering this program or one that is similar to it please click our Starting your own Elderquest Program link and contact Program Director, Chuck Nicholas at chucknicholas@verizon.net for further assistance. If you would like to see some programs that are now running and are based on our original Elderquest program please click Spinoff Programs.

Part Two:  Men, Women, and Relationships
On January 23, 2007, we completed an application to extend our NEH grant for an additional two years. This second part of the New Cinema and Literature of Age is entitled Men, Women, and Relationships, and will consist of two, closely related one year programs to run in the spring of 2008 and 2009. We have already selected partners for the first of these two programs, Men, Women, and the New Old Age, but should we win this new grant, we will be looking for some additional partners in the fall of 2007. For a list of our current partners in this new project, click on Part Two Partners. For a syllabus and course description, click on Syllabi and Course Descriptions. Then in 2008-2009, we will be seeking new partners to join us for our second program, Love and Relationships in the New Old Age. Click on Syllabi for a syllabus and course description. If we fail to win this extension to our NEH grant, we will be seeking other funding sources for these fine and extremely popular programs so stay posted.
Sincerely,
Wichian Rojanawon, Ph.D. Chuck Nicholas, Ph.D.
